“He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.”
We can make the world stop. It spins so fast and flies through space without a single inhibition but, believe me when I say this: we can make the world stop.
On its own, the world won’t stop for us. It’ll drag us along kicking, screaming, and crying, but it won’t stop. It’ll throw harsh winds in our faces and stinging rain on our skin and it’s not going to let up.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
I’m learning that you have to slow down and stop the world yourself, or else it’ll fly right past you and the last thing you’re seeing are the stars flinging through the universe. If you don’t slow down you’re anxious about everything– you drive too fast, you walk too fast, you think too fast, you talk too fast, and you pray too fast. That last one is what kills us.
But if you stop the world for just a moment – a moment is all it takes – the breathing comes easier and the thinking becomes clearer. Your eyes open up and understanding takes the place of fear and the next thing you know you’re exclaiming, “oh, how wonderful.”
Everything holds wonder because we have yet to fully comprehend the nature of the One who made all things.
I saw two deer on my way home tonight and realizing that we have the same Creator was the most inspiring and wonder-filled thought I’ve had all day.
And in that moment, I stopped the world.
